Crystal Waters by Barry Hill
We were exploring the Inner Hebridean Isle of Luing when we came across "Crystal Waters" a derelict former Scottish trawler in a rather sorry state, beside the slate wall of a tiny harbour just beyond the picturesque village of Toberonochy. Slate-quarrying had been the mainstay of life on Luing. Together with fishing this scene combined perfectly two major aspects of the island's past. It is a very tranquil, atmospheric spot and I was very inspired to capture it in paint. Oil on mdf, 14" x 18".
