For me this is about shapes and colour rather the strokes which would be applicable to textures. A super balances here Sandra of both shapes and colours. The dark area in the foreground gives the whole painting a certain depth. A look at cezanne might well give you ideas for your paintings. Happy painting for the year ahead. there is going to be some good ones coming out of New Zealand that’s for sure.

Lovely colours in this Sandra.

Hot sizzling colours and great shapes, as already mentioned above Sandra. You are very good at slotting those shapes together in your work.

Thank-you John, Margaret and Fiona for your encouraging comments. The shapes did take some work to get right Fiona, some needed changing as I went along. Thank-you John for the suggestion about Cezanne, I'll follow up, and for your good wishes for the year ahead.

Thank-you very much Dennis.

Fabulous colours in this and a well balanced composition.

Acrylic on canvas. I painted this the last two sessions of the year. It was meant to be quite different, however just after I'd started the tutor advised keeping the stroke horizontal, based on what I'd already done. I had grasses in mind for the foreground, and tall grass isn't usually horizontal. So abstracted it, then did a sort of go-over to make it more landscapy. Not sure whether I like it or not.

About the Artist
Sandra Kennedy

I became hooked on painting when I joined an evening class on painting "Abstracts in Acrylic" some years ago. Now retired, I was painting fairly regularly until the last couple of years when I've had a "creative drought". This year I intend to work on mainly abstract landscapes.
