Oh you darling - a gem among recent postings - really masterful use of the medium - I guess you will realise that I like it.

Splendid is exactly the right word! Wonderful details and beautiful colours! Very confident looking work of art. Félicitations Avril!

Stunning. You've caught the texture of those old walls brilliantly Avril.

It is 3D how very clever of you to add a totally natural 3rd dimension to a wonderful painting i feel deep envy, no i don't really i just love it

Thank you Helen, Michael, Satu, Val and Jon for taking a moment to leave your encouraging comments; always appreciated. This is painted with three main colours - ultramarine, aliz Crimson and quinacridone gold all used in different quantities according to colour wanted! The blue walls are cobalt blue deep which granulates beautifully! And the 3D is just shadows built up slowly and patiently....

Gorgeous painting Avril, lovely details, great title!

Hi Avril, just love your textured techniques, my style completely.

What a wonderful painting, love it.

Very nice work. Your gallery is full of delightful work!

Add me to the list of lovers of this one Avril. You have captured the decaying stone work really well.

Many, many thanks once again. This beautiful old building "hit" me the minute I saw it which was at 8am one grey morning just after coming off the ferry! So we made a mental note to stop on the return journey to take a photo; and on that day the sun was there as a "sign"!

Superb work, Avril. It is so hard to get the right textures into stonework and old wood, but you just do it as if it was the easiest thing in the world! I didn't know that cobalt deep granulates, as normal cobalt doesn't seem to - useful bit of information. Anyway, another great painting!

Thanks Thea. I think that ordinary Cobalt granulates too - well, according to the WN colour chart. Very useful for creating texture, as is spattering ! Lots of fun !!

Well done, and working so large too. Somehow I get more worried the larger the paper!

Could be Petra - with colours - Avie. Magnificent.

Many thanks Matthew, Pat and Kim. Whan working big Matthew I need clealy defined areas I can complete in my own time! It does however mean remixing the same colour several times ........ not easy!

Hi Avril, this is splendid! I like doorways and windows too especially with the window boxes and the flowers and name plates.

Hi Avril, I love your portfolio, and especially the doors and locks pictures. The fishing net pictures are absolutely amazing. Thank you very much for your kind comment on my Rottingdean sketch.

Saw this beautiful old house in Grossetto, Corsica during our recent holiday. 55 x 32cm (my biggest yet) on Fabriano Artistico paper (a first too!)
