  • Another beautiful addition to your great charcoal gallery

  • Don't know how I've managed to miss your charcoal gallery. Excellent work, you've certainly mastered charcoal whereas if I try charcoal it looks as though both me and the painting have been sweeping the chimney!! Thank you for your comments on my last posting. There are so many excellent paintings racing through the gallery these days that I take it as a big compliment when someone takes the time to stop and leave a comment, especially an artist of your calibre.

  • These monotone charcoal paintings always attract me Charles. This is a place I must get around to visiting.

  • You've portrayed the power of the water fall in a few strokes of charcoal Charles.....and it works very well. Great painting to go with your others in this gallery.

  • Charles has a great feeling for tonal contrast, which you can see in his full-colour work: to achieve an effective drawing in pure charcoal, however, takes a very keen, sharp, and discerning eye; far be it from me to suggest that some of us can't see just how accomplished this is, not least because I've no means of knowing what others can see - but any real artist should immediately be able to tell that this is impressive work. Any kind of detail, any kind of worked-up drawing in charcoal, is impressive stuff: it requires an eye capable of seeing the broad masses, the bright lights, the intermediates - in other words, a real artist's eye.... Charles has it: these charcoal drawings are, therefore, as good as any painting - and often better.

  • Hi Charles I have been to this part of the world a few years ago and what a lovely place it is too. You should be pleased you certainly have done it justice.

  • You're on a roll with the charcoal, Charles! The rushing water is very, very effective - I can almost hear it roar! A very accomplished piece, as are all your works.

  • Dear Charles, Thankyou for your comment on my painting. I like to look at other artists work.It is interesting to see what other people are doing. I have had a look at your charcoal drawings-I think they are all beautiful works of art! You obviously spend a lot of time outdoors, and are very observant. You are good at turning your observations into an artistic image, that can give the viewer a sense of being at the place. Kind regards. Louise Morgan.
