Staffs, United Kingdom
I studied art at school and then went to Leek Art School, where I met some fabulous people who taught me a lot, and the staff were pretty good too. I then took a degree in art at Manchester until 1987. Then I stopped altogether and switched direction to music, and then teaching design, both of which I have done for the last 20 plus years. In 2004 I took life classes for a couple of terms, where I developed a taste for working rapidly, and enjoying making marks. Then another break until I started to draw again a couple of years ago on holidays aiming to fill a sketchbook each holiday. I have now completed over 300 paintings since late September 2017, and thoroughly enjoyed doing nearly all of them. Ok so I have hit the 320 mark, and its only 11th December no doubt I shall get a few more done before the end of the year. Not that I'm necessariliy a believer in quality over quantity, it's a 'more you do, the better you get' kind of thing with me. I am still not the kind of artist that talks or writes about himself in the third person, and I don't like to crow. I do still love painting and drawing, and you know 'mums the word', however I feel I have made real progress in the last few months especially, and I really thank you for all the comments you make about the work I post they are truly appreciated. No matter how much self-belief you have, it greatly helps to have things affirmed by the appreciation of such a talented bunch of artists as yourselves. I am now a member of the Society of Staffordshire Artists and currently have work on display in the Hanley Museum until February next year.
