  • I do prefer it without the wash, but that just personal preference. It feels moodier now.

  • I've got to say that this has turned out terrific Margaret. Just the right amount of detail with some good strong shadows. The addition of the wash was the right one. A work that you should be proud of.
Will look great under an antique white mount - make sure it's squared up though!

  • I am with Alan on this - a stunning work which will look great in a simple profile frame.

  • I can see why the other one you saw as unfinished Margaret. The tones and shadows give this one life and character. White card mount and a slim black frame would be my personal preference, but it's a nice work whatever.

  • Well your first post was good but this is great, lovely dark atmospheric drawing, as Alan said great with a white mount 😀

  • I think the tonal washes have enhanced the drawing. I wonder if you have added a little too much detail, personal preference of course, I just thought it looked more eye catching on the gallery, when the detail is lost.

  • I have to agree that the wash has made a difference. I like the loose way you've applied it, and there's just a hint of cloud in that sky...unless my old eyes are mistaken.
