  • Thank you so much, Derek. Well, for January it's pretty warm in Hampshire. Not for some further north.

  • Beautiful picture, I can feel the fresh countryside air in the vivid colour.

  • Very bold and strong in both style and palette. A vibrant result, lovely.

  • Thank you, Willie and Marjorie. Always very interesting to hear people's take on a painting. I'm already full of thoughts of how to do this subject in a different and more contemporay way.

  • The quality of light and clarity of colour - how I envy your ability to paint like this. How can something so colourful say cold? Wonderful.

  • Tony, I used to have rather a cold studio in an outbuilding with poor light. I think I produced strong colour as an antidote to the temperature and lack of illumination! Also, coming from very many years of doing military subjects that had a lot of strong colour I have a bit of a leaning that way. Snowy subjects are fun to do as you can use practically any colour for snow. A previous snowy one I did (Gornergrat railway, Zermatt) had no pure white in it at all yet conveys everything rather better than this stream one, I feel.

  • Please create in that different way Alix, Look forward to viewing your portfolio in here too. Did you have part of an exhibition in an army base in Hampshire, maybe Andover.
