  • love the style to this , almost pointillist.very effective with the mixture of runs created. Really nice work.

  • Thanks Andre. The runs are created once the knife work Is completely dry by using a magenta ( in this case, bit some times in ultramarine) turpsy wash, but just flattening a broad brush against the canvas and pressing it so the wash runs down (I.e. It's not an all over wash). Because of the impasto paint it does not run straight down, but gets caught in some of the grooves. I lay the canvas flat then so they don't all run off. Because this last layer is then 'lean over fat' it crackles with time and makes it more interesting.
