  • I know I'm a girl but I loved to play marbles too Dermot, we use to call them 'nibs'. Gorgeous colours and reflections.

  • Hi Dermot, I don't know the origins of the name 'nibs' and I remember that the ball bearing ones we would call 'bollies' or 'steelies' and the opaque bluey white colour were called 'bluies' or something like that, they were my favourite ones. We would play into a scrapped out hole in the dirt or a drain cover, in the recess where the handle was.
