  • I particularly like your use of blues and huts of browns. You have definitely captured the awe-inspiring majesty of these mountains.

  • I can almost feel the cool peace and tranquility and stillness in this stunning scene. The blues and purples work perfectly, a beautiful painting.

  • Wow! What a painting! Wonderful blues and powerful shapes - I can't find the words to do it justice.

  • Excellent painting Kevan - particularly like the abstract foreground with the dark tones. Makes a nice balance with the mountains.

  • How you juxtapose 'realism' and an abstract element in your work is very interesting and quite obviously, very successful, as all your paintings 'work' Kevan. A brilliant gallery!

  • Thankyou everyone, and yes Russell, achieving that balance between abstract and representational is very important to me - just like everyone has to achieve their own happy balance of elements in a picture.

  • Really beautiful and very cool looking.

  • A really nice painting Kevan, I think the two different sections work well together and the colours are just right for that area in winter. I must admit to being biased towards mountainscapes and the mountains you have painted, I have spent many hours and days in and on those mountains over the years mainly in winter and just think the area is great, you have really done the hills justice. Looking at the mountains the light and colour puts me in mind of Heaton Coopers work the old Lakeland artist, one of my favourite artists for mountain scenery. Again a really nice painting Kevan

  • Fascinating Kevan! Superb abstract foreground and wonderful blues.!!

  • It's all been said Kevan, an absolute stunner and technically brilliant, I can't add anything else really, but I will.

The mix between figurative or realism, if you like, combined with the abstract element is an unusual approach and I just can't decide one way or another if I like the combination, I feel slightly 'uneasy' about it.

That might stem down to the fact that I don't particularly like 'realism', I appreciate the technical aspects associated with it but much prefer impressionism or abstract. This is a personal opinion of course, and doesn't take anything away from your excellent work.
