  • What stunning pictures of transportation. This Weirs Bridge, part of the Sligo-Leitrim Railway, offers an unusual aspect, looking downstream towards the sunset sky and is very beautiful but my favourite, for personal reasons, is your Cassidy's Bus. My maiden name was Cassidy and my father was the Erne Bus founder.
Do you sell your work? I ask that question while wondering if I can afford an original work of art. Thank you, in any case, for creating these pictures that have given me so much pleasure. I imagine you have Fermanagh links, judging from your many Fermanagh subjects. Is that painting of a woman from long ago a Fermanagh picture too? Your gallery has astonished and delighted me.

  • I neglected to read the title,I so instantly recognised the location of this picture. So it is an upstream view with sunrise not sunset as I surmised.
As a child I often fished under this bridge and after the closure of the railway in 1957, ventured recklessly with my teenage friends along the rotten wooden boards, high above the river, that once formed a walkway alongside the railway as it crossed over

  • Thank you for your comments Mary and glad my paintings brought back happy memories for you. If you would like to visit my Facebook page ' The transport artwork of David Briggs ' and use the 'send message' facility I can answer your questions more easily there. I am actually not from Fermanagh but Lisburn in Co. Antrim. The reason there are a lot of Fermanagh paintings is that I was commissioned to do them for Headhunters barber shop and railway museum in Enniskillen which you maybe familiar with. The Cassidys coach painting hangs there aswell. The lady at the cottage was actually from the north shores of Lough Neagh! As a transport enthusiast it is of great interest to me to make a connection to a member of the family who started the Erne Bus Company, and thank you for your interest. Most of my work is done to commission as a glorified winter hobby! Just get in touch if you require further information. IRegards David.
