Threatening sky, sunlight on the huts and foreground. Captured brilliantly.

Lovely work Alix and very dramatic.

Thank you so much, Tony and Frank. Made my day. It has certainly hit the spot on various FB sites and a friend is keen for me to paint her farm's barn....a theme starting up!

Really stands out. Excellent painting.

Super impending weather and that light that comes just before a storm. Love the buildings and old caravan too.

I particularly like the grasses in the foreground.

Super light in your painting Alix, and it is a wonderful contrast against that darkening sky.

Get the brolly up quick! That sky is amazing, and the whole scene very effectively painted Alix.

Thank you so much, Stephen, Heather, Val-Irene, Fiona and Tessa. The sky is what I call 'estate agent's sky': dark and interesting but what they are selling is in sunlight in the foreground! In fact, there is a bit more to see in the dark parts, suggesting some more trees but not showing up in this image. As for the foreground grass, just did it and hoped for the best! A little bit of rubbing in colours with fingers underneath then brushstrokes on top. I remember a well known artist responding to praise about how well he painted skies and clouds, "I can't do it. I find it very difficult so I just do anything and no one's to know whether the sky was really like that or not". The same could be said for snow scenes, I think.

excellent, like the light

Thank you, Janet. I felt it was the only way to offset the bleached wood and red corrugated iron bits. That and, half-closing eyes, the dark shadows inside the barn and hut which give it some 'punch'.

Sheep shed and Shepherd’s hut. Oil, 20 x 41 cm (8 x 16 inches). It's been a while! I saw this nearby Hampshire scene years ago, been back to look several times making notes and a sketch. It’s been nagging me! In reality there is grass and scrub going up a slope in the background but it detracted from the shed and hut so I painted a strong colour and suggestion of trees instead. Sold rapidly!
