Superb Alix. Lovely rich, warm colours and shadows. I feel I am there. I love going to Mall Galleries, some really interesting work there that inspires me to try something new. I just wish there was a similar gallery to exhibit in the North.

Thanks so much, Pat. If you want a good exhibition, visit the Mall Galleries in mid-July for the Armed Forces Art Society annual exhibition. Always very popular and not an exhibition full of military subjects - just people who have or have had a connection with the Armed Forces. Some are quite well known artists.
I always enjoy visiting The Biscuit Factory in Newcastle. Full of inspiration. Not easy finding places to exhibit, though.

Lovely piece of work , a joy to look at .

Thank you, Dermot. My friend tells me she can actually recognise her paintings on the wall!

Lovely picture on all levels. Especially love the shoes on the left. Very clever.

Linda and Shirley, thank you very much for your comments. As for the shoes on the left, it was a way of reducing the difficulty of painting ankles from that angle!

Great composition- inspired
Lynne, thank you. These two lean together in such a way that they could be deciding to buy, not sure what the abstract landscape is saying or where it is, loving the colours.....could go on. So I suppose it is a real conversation piece in all ways!

An unusual and really excellent painting Alix,!

Thanks, Glennys. I'm about to start a very tricky painting and I'm now a bit more fired up after your kind comment!

Christine, thanks! Well, quite a few artists paint people in galleries but there is problem in Britain as most galleries where the paintings and public would make good subjects there is no photography allowed and, to get the right atmosphere and lighting, a photo or two to add to the research notes would really help. Back views are interesting to do as somehow the artist has to find a way to convey what is going on with the figure without it being visible!

Thank you, Beatrice. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this one - one of those rare paintings that seemed to guide itself so the process was a bit less stressful than usual! It does seem to have hit the spot with a lot of people. Perhaps I should have a competition for bubbles showing what they might be saying to each other!

Saw this last Friday, even better in the flesh! Congratulations on your sale :)

Thanks, Lesley. I'm rather fond of it and might do another along the same theme. This one was accepted by Chelsea!

These two women are looking at the paintings of a friend of mine. This is something that I put together using an actual exhibition wall (Mall Galleries) and two figures from my sketch notes done elsewhere. 10 x 8 inches unframed.
