A bit of a different painting for me! This was a commission for The Fishermen's Mission 2021charity calendar, celebrating the best of British fish & shellfish. I really enjoyed painting the contrasts in the surfaces of the crab, with the mottled shell and the shiny claws. The ice was a real challenge of observation! I had to look very carefully at all the colours & patterns I could see and try & reproduce it as best I could.
