Thank you very much for the comments !. I dedicated this painting to carnivore researcher Hans Kruuk who studied wild spotted hyenas in East Africa many years ago. These top predators have a really terrible, negative reputation all too often seen in Disney films, books etc. They are always portrayed as cowards and weak slinking, evil animals. But the truth is that they are powerful, intelligent, feared and very courageous hunters with strong social bonds and family units. I just hope in this painting that I gave spotted hyenas justice.
