Like this a lot Alan

Lovely work Alan, it lives.

Everything moves in this painting Alan and the more you look, the more it moves. Love the scumbling effects and those sumptuous, golden fields, I bet it looks more amazing in the flesh.

Exellent

Really exciting painting Alan.

Great palette and vitality - l think it's stunning !

A very lively painting.

The colours are brilliant Alan, they certainly seem to have a vibrancy of there own, love the sky and the golden patches of fields really shows the dark green of the surrounding trees.

I like this, Alan. Great sense of space.

A great landscape painting Alan.

Well thanks everyone, some lovely comments which are appreciated!

I love the light on the golden fields in the distance and the buttery coloured clouds.

Oh Wow...there have been some brilliant skies recently ,I’m almost tempted to buy some Payne’s grey and add big white statement clouds. Is that the Wrekin in the distance... love Shropshire.

Would make a wonderful card .

A very exciting painting Alan. Lots of movement in the sky and I really like the dark areas, they steady out all the high key colours. There is such a lot to look at!

Really like this, Alan, beautiful gold/blue combination, lovely sky colours and textures. Didn’t recognise it as one of yours at first!

Alan I like this present style that you’re doing, it is very lively and expressive.

Thanks girls, appreciated!

Usual quality application of paint and colour in this atmospheric painting Alan.

Cheers Shaun!

Wow....what a fabulous sky, Alan.

A very dramatic piece, with great atmosphere and light. Super work, Alan!

Don't let all this praise go to your head! But is is very good: dramatic painting with strong contrasts and rich tones.

Fabulous work Alan.

Loved your demo, Alan.

View towards the Wrekin, oil on linen board, 40 x 50cm. I’ve completed my Jackson’s test report using their ‘Artist’ range of oils, but am continuing to use them. You can read my report in the November edition of The Artist, and also see my progress on this painting in a 6-stage WIP which will be on the POL website at some stage. I’ve used scumbling in some areas of the sky, and I’ve explained the basic principles of this useful technique for those who aren’t familiar with it.
