Thankyou all - your comments mean all the more when I look at your all your great work . I am not a portrait artist but I worked hard on this and did two versions - one for my daughter and one for my granddaughter.They cared for Granny in their home for the last year of her life.She was an outstanding person and was awarded an Order of Australia for contributions to her community.

This is super work David, it’s not easy painting older people as you need to paint the facial lines, but you have to get them a) in the right place and b) in the right tone and colour.

I'm an 81 year old retired surgeon . Art has been my lifelong obsession away from work and now my main focus in life together with woodwork. I enjoy creating and making in any medium but have always gravitated to drawing and watercolour. I've also had limited training in etching and sculpture.
