Quinquireme of Nineveh

Lovely, and such a wonderful title. Omar Kayam?

Thanks Heather and Shirley. No Shirley, Omar is big favourite of mine, but "Cargoes" is/was by John Masefield back in 1903. The poem isn't just about cargoes, but about different times, as Quinquerimes were initially Roman , Galleons mainly up to 18th century Spanish navy and Coasters after the age of steam in the 19th century..

Ah my mum used to read this to me, a lovely painting and words.

An impressive ship!

Love it, Jim...and it really does dream of the Masefieldpoem!

Brings back memories of a great poem. Very effective painting.

Thanks all for the positive comments. Much appreciated.
