The eye of the elephant
This is from a photograph taken by my friend Sarah whilst in Vietnam earlier this year. It was painted using Faber Castell Polychromos coloured pencils and the main techniques of note were: Burnishing, blending and shading. The eyelashes were done using an indenting tool and then the background colour applied. Works well and appears almost miraculous when it is being done. I tried not to over blend the colour and use the tooth of the paper to help with the skin texture.
