Thanks Jill and Linda, I don't think so, it's probably just a bad photo. I only take them with my phone to keep a record my work, so it doesn't always show them at their best. Apologies.

I painted this from a photo taken of Pegsdon Hill in Herts. last year, for my niece for Christmas as she loves poppies. Being on an A1 size canvas it allowed me to play around with the detail and using both palette knife and brush it gave the opportunity to give texture to the poppies in the foreground for that close up touchy-feely effect.
