Strong light bounces everywhere—reducing value contrasts and bleaching shadows, blurring edges and obscuring detail.

A lovely painting, full of colour and light.

The lack of detail is a real plus here Alan. It makes the viewer look more curiously and there is much to admire.

Light is basic—it reveals space, form and colour, and the colour of light colours everything it touches. Overlooking these effects and simply copying what exists in the light is more likely to result in a painted reproduction than truthful beauty.
