To be honest, I’ve got all the DVD’s of the artists that I’m particularly interested in, and I often return to them when I’m struggling for inspiration. Top artists such as Fred Cuming and Ken Howard and so on… there are many more in my collection, I’ve probably got two dozen! Plus so many books. I can’t get too enthusiastic about YouTube videos, and frankly I just don’t have the time these days to watch this stuff. But, if you’re perhaps still finding your way as an artist or learning to develop a particular style, or maybe simply looking for inspiration then great if it helps. Or, for a whole host of other reasons!

Thanks Dawn, I have dropped in there on occasion, and there’s a good range of subjects - always good to have a reminder! It’s only over the past five years or so that I’ve more or less settled on my preferred style of painting (oils), although I still like to explore other avenues from time to time. An artist whose work I particularly admire though, is the abstract or perhaps semi-abstract painter Louise Balaam NEAC. It couldn’t be further away from my style of work, but it excites me! Very positive bold brush work and colour, particularly in her skies - she holds regular two day workshop style courses so I might book into one of them next year. All depends on the health of the nation, I can’t paint with a mask on all day!
