This is a very old figure study from life on a 40 x 50cm board. I have rubbed off the dust and intend to paint a modernist version. My style of cards will be useless for a lot of this, too mucn paint and big areas, so a roller and DIY brush will come inti play and then the finish in using cards. Haven't a clue yet, it's on the easel and busy with stuff at present, for instance trying to book 4 seats at the Lighthouse Poole for a BSO concert next week. Their website is down and phones shut till 11am
Any clues on how I should go about this new work - my biggest yet?

I tend to agree Derek...Twas better before you "messed" with it I know that feeling only so well. Is this the original drawing , painted on top off? The original drawing was lovely and already a finished piece in its own right. Ive discovered that in this world that trying to do two things at once is not the way to go... I know us women are better than you lot at multi tasking but that is not lovely drawings and paintings, its mundane stuff like cooking and cleaning and in my case listening to two conversations at once.
Just shove it down to experience.

It's interesting, but - I did prefer the sketch too.
However - you did it once, you can do it again. Have another crack at it, and stop worrying about those tickets. Happily, once I get going I can't think about anything other than the painting - drawing is different: drawing is actually more difficult, and I worry much more about getting it right than I ever do about a painting maybe going wrong.
