I decided on Sunday it was time to sort out my shed , it’s where in spend my time painting in the warmer weather. Like a lot of other people I have kept all sorts of sketch’s, painting etc , what in had forgotten about well that’s not true I put them away I haven’t bothered to look at them . When I was recovering from a spinal injury bin started to sketch more and then became board after a time, while framing a sketch with a Perspex cover i accidentally scratched across the Perspex sheet. As the background was black it inevitably stood out , the wax using a sharpened a sharpened six inch nail I created this .
I then have deliberately move to doing a sketch that was more complicated.
This was pre scraper board and was in the late seventies early eighties. I have shown these to a friend who thought the might be of interest on the forum. The following are all on glass using and electric engraving tool
The back of the glass is painted black to make the picture stand out. They are a bit tatty and need cleaning up and the paint redoing. Hope you enjoy .

Thanks folks they are fun to do , I have done some Ona set of glasses that a friend wanted and a hunting scene around a very large glass bowel. I never bothered photographing the but wish I had , it also works well on slate I have several place matts and have made house plaques for friends on the odd occasion.

Thank Marjorie, Tessa and George. They don’t take that long, I did the Celtic one in a couple of hours but not at once . The Spitfire took about an hour in one go . Sometimes the simple ones take longer , the drawings and planning take time like sketching sometimes to work quickly is better . The thing to remember is don’t press to hard when shading, it very upsetting when you have almost finished and you rush a bit and hear a click as the glass snaps in half, the language is rather bad as well .
