Don’t mean to highjack you thread Fiona , but wondering if you or anyone fancied a go at painting this.
Taken a few years ago , I spent the day near the Thames and was impressed with the dragonflies, all I thought were large till I came home and this was on the blind. You can see how big it is using the beads as reference. It was the full length of my hand from finger tip to wrist.

I could be wrong, but am almost certain this is an Emperor Dragonfly. Please let me know if I have got it wrong.
They are beautiful to watch hawing up and down through the reed beds. I managed to net one in Mid-Wales in the 70s. Extremely difficult to do, unless you come at them from behind. I did release it after I had photographed it by the way; but I don't do that 'hobby' any more! This is a lovely photograph Paul, worthy of a place in any text book.
