The West Fife Villages Exhibition of Art, Photography and Crafts

An art, photography & crafts exhibition will again be held in Saline in May 2010. This event has proved to be extremely popular, attracting over 400 visitors last year. The main art and photographic exhibition will be held in the Saline Community Centre whilst the the nearby church hall will exhibit specialist photographic collections, an exhibition of ceramics and demonstrations of various crafts will be take place each afternoon. The exhibition is planned for Saturday and Sunday, the 8th and 9th May and will be open from 10 am till 4.30 pm on each day. Exceptionally the church hall will not open until 12 noon on the Sunday. A special feature of the exhibition will be the exhibits from the pupils of the West Fife village primary schools. This year we hope to include work from all ten schools located in the villages. As well as established artists, we very much like to encourage those who have never exhibited their work before.

   After Five, Ten out of Ten for the Friendly Exhibition The West Fife Villages Exhibition of Art, Photography & Crafts will again be held in Saline in May 2010. This will be the fifth consecutive year that an exhibition has been organised and hosted by the village of Saline and this year all ten primary schools located in the West Fife villages will be participating.   The exhibition, held in the Saline Community Centre and Saline Church Hall, is planned for Saturday and Sunday, the 8th and 9th May and will be open from 10 am until 4.30 pm on each day. Exceptionally the church hall will not open until 12 noon on the Sunday. Popular Fife artist and author, Jim Douglas, will be opening the exhibition at 2 pm on Saturday 8th May at the Saline Community Centre. The exhibition will include a good number of Jim’s unique paintings, many of which depict life within a Fife mining town during the last 100 years.   The main art and photographic exhibition will be held in the Saline Community Centre. Members of the Dunfermline and Kincardine art clubs are regular and welcomed exhibitors and we also welcome a number of guest artists from Clackmannanshire. Dunfermline Photographic Association always provide excellent examples of their work and this year the Dunfermline Printmakers’ Workshop will be exhibiting a special display.   For something completely new, demonstrations of six different crafts, including stained glass lead and copper foil work, will be held in Saline Church Hall during the afternoons. These demonstration will be conducted by members of ‘Daft for Crafts’. An additional attraction will be a display of ceramics by members of Cone 8 Potters Club. Specialist photographic collections from Blairhall’s Andy Young and Saline’s Bill Wilson will also be on display.   Jim Hensman, Chair of the local Community Council, said, “This is a unique and very friendly event that gives inexperienced artists the opportunity to exhibit their paintings or photographs alongside club members and semi-professionals.   The entry of exhibits is free and artists may offer their work for sale if they wish.
