Parallax Art Fair

Parallax Art Fair

The fifth edition of Parallax Art Fair in London will take place at Chelsea Town Hall. By being a direct art-to-consumer experience with an open admission policy, P(AF) makes a uniquely refreshing conceptual statement about subjectivity and the commoditization of taste. The event attracts around 200 artists from all over the world, presenting 2,000 to 3,000 pieces. The loose “mosaic” approach to curating P(AF) befits its irreverence for the stiffness of traditional exhibitions and is conceptually in line with the event’s spirited accessibility. The art spans the spectrum in content, style, and abilities due to the level playing field of P(AF)’s universal acceptance, ensuring established and emerging artists are equally represented.

Parallax Art Fair will welcome over 200 assorted artists from a collection of different countries, including for the first time Syria, Oman, Pakistan, India, Brazil and Nigeria. Produced and curated by art historian Dr. Chris Barlow, Parallax Art Fair ensures that both established and emerging artists are equally represented. As a consequence, the work in the fair is extremely diverse, ranging in cultural and artistic variety. The heart of the fair is the practical exploration of new ideas that developed within art history. The fair’s ‘no superiority’ philosophy makes a statement about the problems concerning knowledge acquisition and objects designated as contemporary art. Highlighted artists include Adib Fattal from Syria, whose vibrant, full-of-character and somewhat fairy-tale-like paintings depict scenes of naïve happiness and content, contradictory to the struggles and efforts to re-establish relations between the West and Syria in the current day. Uk artist Alex Dipple generates graphic-like work using copies of The Evening Standard newspaper, cutting off the consumable information and replacing it with recurring lines that form puzzles in your mind. Pakistani artist Faiza Khan explores the idea of being a woman in the Islamic state of Pakistan.
