North Yorkshire Open Studios 2012
This June artists & makers across North Yorkshire will open up their studio spaces, showing work ranging from stained glass to jewellery, sculpture, paintings & pottery.
Enjoy a weekend discovering art in some unique and beautiful spaces, ranging from blacksmith’s forges and farmyard studios to stone cottages and suburban living rooms at the 2012 North Yorkshire Open Studios. The impact of the region’s stunning landscape, from the beauty of the Yorkshire Dales to the drama of the region’s coastline, can be tracked through the work of over 130 artists taking part. This is a great opportunity to seek out hidden gems and buy contemporary crafts, furniture, paintings, prints and sculpture directly from the artist. Much of the adventure lies in tracking down the studios using the helpful event guide. Full details of all artists can be found on the website http://www.nyos.org.uk and a free studio guide can be sourced from organisers, Art Connections, or email [email protected] A preview exhibition, entitled ‘Secret Spaces, Hidden Gems’, which showcases the work of artists taking part will take place in the recently restored Edwardian Ambulatory Arcade at the Royal Hall in Harrogate from 31 May to 17 June. This year there is also a superb events programme running alongside the main open studios programme, which includes workshops, secret tea parties and fascinating artists’ installations at a range of heritage sites. Studios are open across two weekends: Saturday & Sunday 9th & 10th June & Saturday & Sunday 16th & 17th June, from 10.30am to 5.30pm. Entry to studios is FREE.
