'FUR & FEATHERS' - 3 Day Watercolour Painting Workshop

'FUR & FEATHERS' - 3 Day Watercolour Painting Workshop

A 3 day workshop with award-winning professional artist Jenny Oldknow, concentrating on painting subjects from across the animal kingdom, both wild and domestic, using watercolour in a loose and expressive style.

I am excited to announce my animal themed three-day watercolour painting break, and I hope that it will provide the opportunity for people from further afield to attend one of my workshops. The workshop is to be held on Monday 18th to Wednesday 20th August, with three full days tuition. The cost of the three days is £300 per person, including lunch each day. Accomodation is arranged separately and is totally your choice. I am happy to supply a list of local accomodation (for all budgets), including places within walking distance, or you are welcome to organise your own accomodation. This painting break promises to be an inspiring time, where you will be encouraged to paint with looseness and expression, and whilst much of the material will be focussed on painting wildlife and animal subjects (as the title suggests!), the techniques you will explore are equally applicable to painting any subject, from florals to landscapes. This workshop is suitable for all levels, but it is preferable that you have a basic experience of watercolour, to enable you to benefit fully from your time with me. Please contact me if you are unsure if this workshop is suitable for you. Reference material will be provided throughout, although participants will be encouraged to bring their own photographs too, particularly of their own pets, if available, as a big part of the course will be learning how to interpret photos to create your own unique and expressive paintings. The use of colour and composition will be explored, along with different techniques of applying watercolour paint. Although the three days will have a degree of structure, because of the small number of people attending the course (see below), there will be plenty of opportunity to make your time personal and get the tuition and help you want. A materials list will be provided upon booking, although some materials will be provided. Optional evening activities will be organised, and accompanied by myself, to ensure you have a great time (especially if you are coming alone). This include a welcome meal on the Sunday evening (the 17th August) for those arriving on the Sunday, which will be at a local eatery, with further events/meals planned for the Monday and Tuesday nights (again, all optional!). If you want to bring a non-painting partner, there is plenty of things to do in this area of the country, including the stunning countryside (perfect for walking), famous houses such as Chatsworth, popular towns such as Matlock, Buxton and Bakewell, and lots of other leisure activities such as golf and horse-riding, in fact, why not extend your week and enjoy all that the region has to offer? The town of Belper, where I am based, has excellent road and rail links, accessable from all parts of the UK, and is close to several airports. Please note that places are strictly limited to just 5 people, which ensures that everyone gets lots of personal tuition, but also means that places will fill up quickly, so if you are interested in attending, please EMAIL me as soon as possible for a booking form. £50 deposit secures your place, with the remainder due 6 weeks before the workshop commences.
