From Village to Vineyard Exploring Southern Burgundy in Pastels with Malcolm Jarvis
Let celebrated pastel artist Malcolm Jarvis guide you through a week of artistic discovery in this landscape that lends itself completely to creative interpretation.
One of Malcolm’s many strengths is his ability, through his workshops, to convey techniques developed over 40 years of professional painting. This event offers you a sound and fundamental approach to painting using basic principles of composition, drawing, colour and technique supported by daily demonstrations. Malcolm paints alongside you and guides you step-by-step through the planned progress of each painting. Classes are usually in the morning and late afternoon with a focus on landscape painting ‘en plein air’. The splendid, fully equipped barn studio provides a light and airy space to develop on your morning’s work or listen to Malcolm as he lectures on colour harmony, application and composition. Whether you are a beginner or experienced pastel painter you will be encouraged and inspired to give your imagination full freedom of expression through painting with pastels. Malcolm has been painting in pastels since 1992. He is a member of the Pastel Guild of Europe and Professional Associate of the SAA (Society for All Artists). A regular exhibitor in Norfolk as well as in London, South Carolina and Spain, his paintings are owned by private and corporate collectors in the UK, Eire, Europe and the USA. Malcolm divides his time between painting and drawing, demonstrating, delivering workshops and tutoring. He is a regular contributor to ‘The Pastel Scribbler’ and 'Paint'. Further examples of his work and details of his painting holidays and workshops can be found at www.malcolmjarvisart.co.uk The event takes place in our beautifully renovated barn and accommodation is either at the house on site or at our neighbouring accommodation with all meals taken at the course venue. Food is home grown, home made or locally sourced and we offer a local wine tasting on your first evening. As our house guests we would like you to get the most from your stay. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and the number of painters is kept to 10 to ensure you receive the individual attention you desire.
