TALP Open 2024

Entry Terms and Conditions

1. Only original work completed within the past two years will be considered.
2. Artists can enter either The Artist category OR the Leisure Painter category - NOT both. Entering both categories may result in disqualification at the judging stage.
3. Artists aged 18-30 can enter our Young Artist of the Year.
4. Artists aged *under 18 can enter our Under 18 Young Artist of the Year.
5. Paintings based on reference photographs must have been taken by the artist or used with the permission of the photographer.
6. Photography, except where incorporated into collage, is not acceptable.
7. Entries should be no larger than 100cm on any side WHEN FRAMED.
8. Entries will be judged after April 9, 2024 and selected works called for exhibition. These must be framed (canvases excepted) ready for exhibition from July 11 to August 11, 2024 at Patchings Art Centre. ALL works entered MUST be available for exhibition and potential sale if selected. If you do not send in your work it will also not be exhibited online.
9. Please note that The Artist Purchase Prize Award is the purchase of the award winning painting only which will be purchased at its for sale price, up to a maximum of £3,000.
10. Successful entrants will be notified in mid-May about delivering their work to Patchings Art Centre, Nottinghamshire.
11. All entries must be original.
12. Should your work be selected for exhibition, your details will be shared with Patchings Art Centre. Please ensure your details are up-to-date and include a phone number to enable us to be able to contact you more easily.
13. Highly commended works will feature in our online exhibition only.
14. Submission of entry in this competition automatically constitutes acceptance of all the competition rules and agreement to allow The Artist and/or Leisure Painter to publish, republish and repurpose entries in print and digital formats including but not limited to magazines, promotion materials, websites, databases and as part of downloadable digital products.

*Children under the age of 18 will need permission to enter the competition from a parent or responsible adult. Adults can enter on the their behalf by adding the artists name and age with the image title when uploading the entry.

Exhibition Terms and Conditions

1. All works finally accepted for the 2024 exhibition must be left with the organisers throughout the various preparation phases and until the exhibition closes on 11 August, 2024.
2. Should you be unable to provide your selected work for exhibition in Nottinghamshire, your work will not be eligible for the online exhibition or any of the awards.
3. You are advised to insure your work/s from the time you send/deliver them until the time you are able to collect them. Whilst all care will be taken, the exhibition organisers cannot be held liable for any loss or damage to works occurring in the normal course of handling or whilst on exhibition, whether such damage is caused by the exhibition organisers, gallery staff or otherwise.
4. If delivering your work in person, you will need to unpack it and take away the packing material with you.
5. If sending in your work by courier, only crate packaging will be kept if in good, reusable condition. However, packing charges may still apply, which will depend on the size of the painting. Please contact Patchings Art Centre at the end of the exhibition on 0115 965 3479 to organise collection and packaging costs. Please ensure your courier has your registration number and your name. Please see the additional information in the Transportation by Courier tab on the left.
6. If works are not collected on the stated days, storage charges may be levied by Patchings Art Centre, Oxton Road, Calverton, Nottinghamshire NG14 6NU; telephone 0115 965 3479.
7. A commission of 25% including VAT will be charged on the sale price of *work/s sold during the exhibition at Patchings Art Centre from July 11 to August 11, 2024. If your work is sold during the exhibition, you will be informed by telephone by August 11, 2024. Payment for any sales will be made within 60 days following the close of the exhibition.
8. Your work must be original and framed suitably (canvases excepted) and should be ready to hang with cord or glass-plates. Outlandish frame designs or metal frames could jeopardise the hanging of your work. Clip frames are not permitted.
9. Your details will be shared with Patchings Art Centre to enable them to contact you on any aspect of the exhibition.
