TALP Open 2022

WIN! Over 30 prizes to be won worth over £13,500!

In our annual open art competition, organised by The Artist and Leisure Painter in partnership with Patchings Art Centre

  • We are looking for the best two-dimensional works in any media including drawings, paintings, printmaking and digital artwork from amateur painters in the Leisure Painter category, and from more experienced and professional artists in The Artist category.
  • Up to 140 selected works will be selected to be displayed in two separate galleries at Patchings Art Centre in Nottinghamshire, from July 14, to August 14, 2022.
  • Work highly commended by the judges will feature as part of the online exhibition on PaintersOnline, which will go live from August 15, 2022, and will be eligible for the public vote for the People’s Choice Awards.
  • The competition is open to artists worldwide.

  • To enter, select an option from the box, above right, and click 'Start new entry'.
  • Please ensure you enter the correct category- artists can enter either The Artist category OR the Leisure Painter category - NOT both. Entering both categories may result in disqualification at the judging stage.
  • If you have already started an entry but are yet to submit it, you can continue by clicking the 'Manage existing entries' button.
  • Please note the closing date of midday on April 7, 2022.

We have created a step-by-step guide on how to enter our image-based competitions which can be found by clicking here, should you need it.

Please note the following:

  • Your entry fee covers up to THREE or up to SIX two-dimensional artworks in any media. Only complete your entry when you have uploaded all of the images you wish to enter.
  • Upload digital files of your image(s) before paying your entry fee. Entries will not be submitted until payment has been made using our secure server.
  • To give more amateur artists the chance to exhibit, just one work of the three or six submitted per entrant will be accepted for exhibition in the Leisure Painter category.
  • In the event of your work being selected for exhibition, your details will be shared with Patchings for exhibition purposes only.
  • Please ensure your contact details are correct and include a phone number in order for us to contact you should your work be selected for exhibition.
