URBAN SKETCHING DAY

URBAN SKETCHING DAY

URBAN SKETCHING DAY

Grey, drear, dismal day here in North Wales. But a small group of us Urban Sketchers met up at Theatre Clwyd in Mold Flintshire. Coffee first which tends to get extended as a lot of us have not met for a while. Play catch up,on craft fairs and exhibitions and courses we have all been on. Then of course we had to go and see what exhibitions were being shown in the galleries . Some work being shown at the moment is from the recent Helfa Gelf event ( Welsh for Art Trail) My friend Helen grows her own plants and uses the flowers, roots and leaves to make dyes. She then either paints with them or dyes silks and wool to produce beautiful objects. Or as shown today stitches wonderful landscapes. Eventually we sat around and painted and drew the world around us, I used the large picture windows to paint the far hills and misty sky with St Mary's the parish church rising from the trees . Some people sketched people passing through, one person had a go at the scaffolding we could see on the outer building . If you Google Urban Sketchers you will find a world wide group of sketchers telling their story through their sketches. A good day.
