Painting the Algarve

Painting the Algarve

Acrylics on gesso-ed mount board.

I recently painted this in acrylics on gessoed mount board. The view is from Praia da Falesia. I used photos I took when staying at Olhos d'agua in the Algarve and bringing together some of my findings from earlier explorations and watercolour studies that I did when there. I used Windsor and Newton's Desert collection which was compact for travelling and an ideal combination of colours for the cliffs. The colours there on a bright day were amazing and the bands of rock smooth and sculptural. I like the horizontal curvy lined patterns running across the image and the complementary colours of blue and orange.

Lovely, Tessa. So vibrant. I've been considering this collection of colours. I may well check them out.

A lovely painting Tessa. Makes me wish to be there. The colours really work well together.
