I like to use various textures in my paintings which are mainly Acrylic or Watercolour. Have you ever tried, tissue paper, cornflakes or egg shells. There are many thing that make amazing textures for you to paint over, just look in your cupboards, stick it on with PVA then paint ontop when dry.
