Many active artists keep a sketchbook. They usually gather dust under other 'might be useful' items on the studio floor! Last year I gathered eight volumes together, scanned and enhanced some 500 drawings and water colour sketches I had paid over the years whilst on a boat on the inland waterways of Europe. Eventually the selection was narrowed, text added, layout devised on the home computer and my first book, a 'coffee table' presentation entitled Afloat on the Dutch Waterways was published. It makes a great present for an amateur artist and should be an encouragement to many!
