The gallery makes an ideal starting location on Finchingfield village green overlooking lovely buildings and views to inspire us when we move outside to paint. Painting Buildings in a Landscape in Watercolour with Local Professional artist Colin Steed The course is for those with some experience of drawing and watercolour painting. The day will start with an introduction in the gallery and will then move outside to paint in the village. Colin will give demonstrations and individual help throughout the day. We will stop for lunch after midday. You can bring your own packed lunch or why not treat your self in one of the many good eating places on the village green. The day will conclude in the gallery with a look at the work we have produced. Here are the materials I recommend. Brushes: Round, nos. 4, 8 and 12 and a rigger plus a medium size mop brush. Watercolours: Cobalt Blue Raw sienna or Yellow Ochre Burnt Umber Ultramarine Cadmium Yellow Light Red Prussian Blue Burnt Sienna Alizarin Crimson Mixing palette. Bockingford 140lb watercolour paper, size: 11x15 inches approx. or other good quality watercolour paper that is 140lb or over. Sketching pad, size: 7x5 inches approx. 3B pencil and putty rubber. Water container. Board to support your paper. Please bring any other material you have for outdoor painting. The gallery supplies chairs but you will need to bring an easel to support your board.
