Christmas cards. It's that time of year again and my brief (to myself) was to paint a scene set in our village of Pouzolles here in the south of France. Time was short, so I opted for the digital option. I put a pencil sketch together first based on a number of reference photos which I scanned in. I then set about rendering the painting. I wanted to have a Disney-esque feel about the scene with early evening light and a light snow falling.. which was easier said than done. What I love about Digital Painting is the way you can experiment on layers without disturbing previous work. I put a step by step tutorial on my website which you can take a look at here.
