another day - another workshop

Just back from another workshsop - yes another one! At West Dean again this time Life Drawing with Bridget Woods. I love life drawing and until last autumn was a regular attender at a weekly life drawing session in Shrewsbury. I really enjoyed it and then life got in the way - I missed some sessions and gound I didn't have the confidence in my drawing to go back. Then I broke my wrist and just getting around was difficuly enough without a journey involving two buses and quite a bit of walking while trying to carry my kit - it seemed insolvable. However, last week reminded me that I enjoyed life drawing - it gave me the opportunity to get to grips with tone and although challenging I enjoyed it - so can't wait to get back to the sessions on Monday afternoons - especially now I am driving again so the journey is easier. Also while away we had some work done to the house including my studio (yes I know it is pretensious of me to call it a studio but I recognise how lucky I am to have a dedicated - freshly painted - space for my art) and I have spent the last two days moving everything back in and having a clear out - throwing away lots of old work has given me the opportunity to review everything and critically assess it and I have found areas I need to improve obviously but also lots of pieces that are quite good. I feel I can move on - having identified the areas I will benefit from practising and also having identified the areas that I am competent in - I am really looking forward to gettting stuck in - have fun everyone - the sun is shining here today
