An insightful talk for artists: International Residencies unravelled - NOW OFFERING 2 FOR 1 - BRING A FRIEND FOR FREE!

An 'Art World unwrapped' panel discussion powered by Metro Bank. International Residencies have become an increasingly popular way for artists to advance their practice and their careers. This panel discussion will focus on how to gain access to international residencies as well as to how to make the most of them not just during the residency but also afterwards. Be Smart About Art Founder Susan Mumford will moderate this panel that will include established artists as well as institutions and organisations involved in the delivery of international residencies: Aaron Cezar has been the Director of The Delfina Foundation in London since 2007, which promotes cross-cultural dialogue and artistic experimentation. They create opportunities for emerging and established artists, curators and writers to reflect on what they do, position their practice within relevant global discourse, create career-defining research and commissions, and network with colleagues. In 2013, Delfina Foundation will expand into an adjacent building at 31 Catherine Place, SW1, doubling the size of our project/exhibition space and the number of residencies we host, becoming London's largest provider of international residencies. Helen Brough is a British painter, drawer, sculptor, and installation artist. Educated at Chelsea School of Art in London, Helen achieved an M.A in sculpture. Her awards in England include the Prix de Rome prize at the British school in Rome, and the Prince Charles travel scholarship. Helen was based in the US (mainly in Nebraska and New York) between 1999 and 2009. In America she has received funding from the Pollock/Krasner Foundation and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts and has exhibited regularly at galleries including Allen Gallery and Kristen Frederickson Contemporary Art. The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A with the audience, so that you may ask any burning questions about international residencies. Join us at this panel discussion that is being held at Metro Bank, Holborn (1st Floor) - One Southampton Row - London, WC1B 5HA.
