Always check the entry form date!
Always check the entry form date!
Normally I'm a pretty organised person. I enter dates and deadlines into the calendar on my computer and also on my ipod, I also mark them on the big year planner in the kitchen and make a note on my white board in the computer room. So how I managed to get the date wrong for handing in my entry form for the latest club exhibition I'll never know. Can I blame age? Or maybe all the bank holidays recently (which I'm in favour of as I think we miss out in the country). The form deadline was on the second (I think) bank holiday and in order to ensure it got there all right I would have had to post it almost a week before. The exhibition is at the end of this month so about three weeks separate form deadline from painting hanging, which is quite a long time really. Anyway, I will just have to check more carefully next time and it does give you a chance to see the two paintings I would have entered. I have just put them up in the 2011 portfolio in my gallery, they are also on my website too. Still, belonging to several painting clubs does mean it won't be too long before they get exhibited. So learn from my absent mindedness, check and check again on those deadlines, they sneek up on you when you are busy doing other things. To get back to more general painting things, my Mother and I decided a few months ago to set aside one day a week for painting, provided of course that I wasn't actually working on that day, (I'm self employed so can juggle things sometimes). Well, as with all good intentions, this has yet to happen and we haven't managed a painting day so far. Life has a nasty habit of intervening of late. May be we will be able to do this soon.
Happy painting to all.
