A pictorial alphabet of favourite places I've sketched and painted around England

Macc Canal nr Middlecale Farm 2 sml

While some letters of the alphabet are difficult to illustrate from my travels, M is a cinch, as this painting alone combines three Ms – “The Macclesfield Canal near Middlecale Farm, Middlewood”. The Macclesfield Canal runs through Higher Poynton and is a natural place for me to go for sketching or painting trips, especially as it has a car park, outdoor snack cabin and loo block! As it is a regular haunt on my local patch there are more pictures from here, as with Higher Poynton, and later Prince’s Wood. The part I walk, sketch and paint is from Adlington, 3 miles to the South, to High Lane,, 2 miles to the North, and has extensive views across farmland to Lyme Park to the East, and over Poynton to Alderley Edge to the West.

You're very kind, Tessa. Like you I find narrow boats fascinating, especially their often humorous names. I do feel for their occupants in the current pandemic, though.

Another lovely painting David and as usual the added information gives more interest to the subject. I do like a canal boat! My daughter lives in East London obviously in a very built up area, but not far from her is a lovely canal with a very crowded residential collection of boats, fascinating to walk past, but again probably not possible at present.

Thank you. Michael. I love towpath walking but won't return until the Covid situation is much improved as social distancing is so difficult.
