A pictorial alphabet of favourite places around England – H for Higher Poynton (1)

A pictorial alphabet of favourite places I've sketched and painted around England.

Towards Lyme Park, Cloudy Bright auto

Higher Poynton could fill a book on its own, simply because it’s on my doorstep and I paint outdoors there every Tuesday morning with two pals, weather, travels and Covid-19 pandemic permitting. The area comprises farmland, woodland and the Macclesfield Canal, and lies between the village of Poynton, in North East Cheshire, and the moorland of Lyme Park. The canal and the woodland, Prince’s Wood, will have their own entries in these blogs, so the painting chosen here is the view towards Lyme Park from the farmland which is accessed by a network of footpaths (and broken fences!). Luckily for us, the farmer went to school with one of our trio and often stops his tractor to interrupt us for a cheery chat.

Thank you, Michael. Using the complementary colours of purple in the blues, and yellow in the greens helps to achieve a unity as well, I think.
