A non-creative week

Greetings all and hope everyone had a great weekend past. I have been particularly quiet only because I have been particularly ... torpid ... one of my favourite words at the moment ... no urge to do anything. I did get out of the house on Sunday (happy belated Father's Day to all those Aussie dads out there) to peruse the Omega Workshop at the Courtauld Gallery and the BP Portrait Awards at the National Portrait Gallery. Quite a few exhibitions are ending on the 20th September, I thought it was time to get my butt into gear and see what they are all about before they finished. I truly love the Courtauld Gallery – it has one of the most amazing collections of modern art in London that is just there for you to visit. My particular favourite is the "Kandinsky" room as I like to call it ... I can't leave without visiting it ... and I am always astounded that generally the "exhibitions" are made up of the permanent collection (although the Omega one had quite a few loans from the V&A) – how amazing is that? The NPG is also a great fave – more so for their exhibitions than their permanent collection for me – I always try to pop for a quick visit to see what is on. I am quite intrigued with awards: to see what is considered a "first prize" painting [generally not the same as what I like the most] and to see the sheer variety of styles is just fascinating. So I had quite a lazy weekend...my last for a while as classes start next Friday and then there will be no time for sleep-ins and the like!
