Louise Morgan

Biography

Working primarily from plein aire and memory, Louise Morgan is compelled to capture light and movement in the Welsh landscape. The constantly changing weather conditions in Snowdonia and the surrounding area, mean that she has to work rapidly. Predominantly painting with palette knives outside in the open air and finishing the artwork in the studio, she wipes areas out or defines highlights by scraping off paint, adding texture and depth to her painterly strokes. "I incorporate emotion into my landscape, portrait and figure paintings. Adding varying texture and colour to obtain maximum depth, creating a 3 dimensional aspect; hence the feeling of being able to walk into my paintings. My paintings change in varying light, creating the sensation of abstract reality, by playing with this sensation my paintings draw the viewer to the place they were created, ultimately channeling my emotions. I love to incorporate jeopardy, movement and drama into my work, echoing the frantic chaos of modern life." Louise Morgans work, shows a passion beyond the dramatic mountains of Snowdonia - the emotion led path of "finding the light."
