Christine Sharp
Biography
I am the classic product of the old story - 'could have gone to art college but didn't'! My art teacher encouraged me to aim high and apply to the Slade School of Art at 17 - needless to say I was unsuccessful. I reacted like only a stroppy teenager could have, threw my toys out of my pram and went to Birmingham University to study a media degree instead. However, I have kept painting over the years and following retirement I have been able to concentrate on my art. I work in oils, watercolour and soft pastels, painting a wide range of subjects from the natural world. Using both figurative and abstract styles I aim to capture the effect of colour, light and shade on the subject, whether it be landscape, animals or the human form.
