Janis Steele

I retired from work almost 7 years ago after 26 years with the same company. I was hoping to have more time for the things I like: painting, music, reading but I'm still as disorganised as before. Most of my paintings were in acrylic but then I discovered I love soft pastels - if only I didn't get into such a mess! Since the first lockdown in 2020 I've concentrated more on drawing (graphite and charcoal mostly) thanks to portrait and life drawing sessions on zoom. I can sketch anywhere with just pencil, paper, putty rubber and sharpener and less to clean up and put away but I do intend to go back to colour some time. In the meantime I've created a Gallery of portrait drawings and am in the process of adding some of my 'lockdown' work from Sept 2020 to date.
