Childswickham Art Group

Biography
The club started 7 years ago in Broadway library and when lack of council support meant the group nearly closed we sought out a new venue. The group meets for 2 hours on a Friday morning in the village hall and has a membership of 15. Claire is our inspirational teacher and is really what makes the group standout. At our group and with the help of Claire we've been able to learn and try our hand at a wide range of processes and media. In the last two years we've covered all of the following: linocut printing, drawing large scale, painting inspired by music and poetry, portraits, abstraction, etching, colograph printing, drawing with perspective. We've even tried our hands at ceramics for one term. We are currently supporting our local ABI unit (acquired brain injury), holding Arts and Craft events to fund their groups Art. Claire is an excellent teacher and provides us with all the materials, teaching, support and inspiration we need. As a result we've grown in confidence but above all enjoyed the different techniques together. We now feel able to enter our work in 'The Artist' competition. The group is very friendly and encouraging. Sometimes, as we concentrate you can hear a pin drop and at other times there's a real buzz as we stand at the printing press waiting to see what will come out! Or when it's time for coffee and our biscuit. "Make Time for Art"
