Frank Goddard

Biography

I spent many years teaching children art, among other things, but rarely found time to paint for myself until after early retirement. After putting chalk and blackboard behind me I first turned on pen and ink and produced a book The Great North Road (pub. Frances Lincoln, 176pp) devoted to pen and ink drawings and script. It was a good move because I had done a lot of pen and ink work in the past. Now I paint varied subjects in various media, watercolour, oil, acrylic, pastel, gouache, coloured and graphite pencil as the mood takes me. I also dabble in digital using Procreate and Artrage on my iPad with which I illustrated a history book published locally. But art is not a full time activity; other interests include gardening, the outdoors, birdwatching and music. I was born and brought up in Yorkshire but have a great affinity with Cumbria which accounts for paintings of Lake District subjects.
