Quintin Davies

Biography

Quintin was born in Colchester, Essex, in 1974 and raised in the nearby town of Manningtree. He spent much of his early life around the Dedham Vale 'Constable Country'. He has received no formal art training, having been discouraged from pursuing a career in art whilst at school. He studied Geology at Leicester University, a Masters in sedimentology at Reading University and gained a PhD in carbonate sedimentology from The Open University, based in Milton Keynes. Art has remained a lifelong passion of his and he is largely self-taught. After experimenting with most mediums he settled on oils to best convey his realist style. His subject includes landscapes, still life and pet portraits and more recently people portraits. Inspiration is drawn mainly from the wonders of nature, from the micro- to macro-scale. He has been providing commissioned and exhibition artwork for 15 years mainly finding time during evenings and weekends. He lives in the beautiful countryside between Ballater and Aboyne in Aberdeenshire with his wife, Cheryl, daughter Rosalind. His other interests include photography, hill walking, juggling and real ale! Since moving to Scotland he has exhibited locally and paintings are in collections in the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia, UAE, Oman and Austria. Recently the Scottish landscape “Uist Squall” was recently purchased by HRH Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall. A Full portfolio is available on his website.
